The first party, when the Chronicle was still rather small in scope. Mainly the Haarlem kindred attended this party in the honour of Caine.

The vampires of Haarlem were celebrating the coming of the new year. The following were present:

This party took place in the Gravenzaal of Haarlem, the reception-room of Quintus. It began at nine, but it was very quiet early in the evening. It was only later that kindred began coming in. The first guests were Gabriella, Lucius and Jean-Luc. They talked a little about the architecture and city planning of Haarlem. After a while, Alexander Danov, Allicia and Lucian came in. Danov did not stay very long.
Gregorius and Hildebrand arrived late. Gregorius didn't understand why all those other kindred existed. He wasn't used to even seeing other kindred. Quintus did appreciate his attendence at the party however. Hildebrand looked like a goon. He leaned heavily on some kind of crude stick, but did not say a word. Sometimes he intruded rudely upon a conversation, or just stood there and listened to it. Hildebrand was the first one who saw the hunter on the other side of the Grote Markt. He warned Quintus, who made some phonecalls to get rid of the hunter.
At midnight the Haarlem prince raised his glass to the new year. He held a short speech about the prosperity of Haarlem. He said he had new plans for Haarlem.
Only after midnight Juggler came in, with a lot of mortals. It was clear that Quintus was very crossed with him being late. What made matters worse is that he changed the music as soon as he arrived. He changed the classical music into something hardcore. Quintus was raging in anger by now, and he demanded that the mortals that came with Juggler were killed. They were a breach of the masquerade. Most kindred that were present did this, while Gregorius stood guarding the door.
After this, Quintus took the opportunity to punnish Juggler for his creation of his new child, Evelyn. That is, he should have punnished Juggler, but the Brujah eventually got away with it. Juggler, Evelyn and Gregorius left the party sometime after midnight. By this time kindred began talking about a dream they all had. All the kindred in Haarlem, except Gregorius had had a dream in wich Caine played a prominent role. According to Quintus and Lucian there is some proof in the dream that something is going to happen in Berlin. Lucius, Gabriella and Jean-Luc are asked by Quintus and Lucian to go to Berlin to investigate.
At the end of the party a certain William, Annabel and Sultana came to the party.
