Clifford's Tower

E-mail Print PDF

Clifford's Tower is the oldest remains of York Castle. It stands high on a steep hill, towering above the city itself. Though the site is defended since 1066, the tower is built in the thirteenth century. It was the scene of a most horific murder of jews in those years, as a result of which some say the walls are still dyed red with blood.

Indeed, the tower is crawling with ghosts not put to rest.
