In the beginning of the twentieth century, a small woman with jet-black hair and death white complexion takes residence in Amsterdam. In those years she led an active life in the Jewish district. This changes quickly, however, and she who calls herself Anowan is now seldom seen. Rumors go she's converted to the Judaism and is completely dedicated to it. Only the prince seems to have contact with her now and then and not always to his liking. He's been heard complaining to his confidants: "If this Anowan wasn't that valuable a source of information, it'd..."
The Second World War is chaos. And after the war the Jewish district is no more and Anowan seems to have disappeared with it. Only some say they'd seen her pottering around at "Zorgvlied", while others claim they spotted her at the Synagogue at Jonas Daniel Meijerplein.
It isn't until the eighties that Anowan appears in public again. From that moment on she lives in the Bijlmer where she practices Winti (a pagan Surinam religion still popular in spite of their Christian belief). In the course of 2002, Anowan became the founding member of the Coterie of York. This coterie was sent as a group of individuals with quite different ideas, to investigate things in the northern English city of York. By 2003 she was the only surviving member of the original group.
